Hello. My name is Adam Hintz. I was born on October 5th, 1979. I'm married and have two beautiful daughters. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska and own a coffee shop named Meadowlark Coffee and Espresso.
My focus for the time being will be to give you a day to day account of what's it's like to own a tribally run business. For those of you who don't know what I mean by tribal, I suggest you read the book "Beyond Civilization" by Daniel Quinn. This book changed me forever and I will start my story at that very moment. When I was changed.
In October of 1999, I decided to start my own tribal business. But, I'd need to get through school first. I was attending Minnesota State College Southeast Tech. to learn how to build and repair guitars. My girlfriend at the time, Kim, kept me company as I attended classes. I use the word "attended" in the loosest of terms. Although, I welcomed Kim's companionship, she was a big distraction. I blame myself for not being organized enough to complete school. By November, I dropped out and was on my way home, to Lincoln.
Once we arrived home, we started our life in Lincoln. We worked at a 24 hour Dinner as waiters on the graveyard shift. It was some of the best and worst times of my life. After leaving the dinner, coming and going from a indoor painting job I finally found my calling. On March 2nd 2001 I became a barista. I became apart of the select few who have had the pleasure of working at The Coffee House. Here I learned about having a sence of family in an occupation.
In late summer of that year, Kim was pregnant with my first daughter. Iris.
My wife is home. I'll post more later.
